Harry Brook excruciatingly shortly before the century when England only goes behind India

Harry Brook fell from a hundred hundred when England was triggered in Headingley for 465 and India only left six on the third day of the first Rothesay test.

Yorkshire’s audience was ready and ready to celebrate the century of the local boy when he sat down on 99 against Prasidh Krishna, but instead informed his deflation when he turned the throat of the fine leg field down.

Brook, who corresponds to a clearly telegraphed bouncer bounce trap, threw his head back and dropped his racket when he was the first Englishman to trudge into the pavilion, which has fell to 99 since Jonny Bairstow in 2017.

But his innings took a large part of the 471 India 471 when the hosts continued to gave themselves a fixed foundation in a game that was still able to swing in both directions.

Brook took off Ollie Pope’s staff after being released for 106 in the third year, and scored the majority share of 51, 73 and 49 with Ben Stokes, Jamie Smith and Chris Woakes.

Each run would have been painful for Jasprit Bumrah, who would not have caught Brook by a no-ball from a ball on Saturday evening in the final, and there were other costly mistakes when Brook dropped to 46 and 82.

Brook roared out of the blocks and ended Krishna first over the day with an average for four and one thrash for six over Midwicket and took the driver’s seat when Pope led a gentle steer in Rishabh Pant’s gloves early on.

His message rang loudly and clearly when he took a few steps on the field and Bumrah beat the cover for four. Few batters tried to play number one worldwide with such freedom, and have lived even less to tell the story.

Stokes played the supportive role after he arrived in fifth place, and left Brook to offer explosive moments like his scorching drive that skipped the route towards Mohammed Siraj.

The captain burst together 20 reserved runs, but never let himself go into a rhythm and looked full of regret when he defensively pressed out of the blunt outside and pushed Siraj behind.

Brook and Smith found a better pace, milked 38 runs of six overs from the all -rounder Shardul Thakur and negotiated the first signs of spin by Ravindra Jadeja.

Brook was defeated once when he sent one from the shoulder of the racket, but the ball hit Pant Hart and climbed out.

After adding 118 for two in the morning, England started between lunch and tea 138 for five.

Smith was a good price -performance ratio for a powerful 40, but when he withdrawn Krishna for six to six, he was obliged to send another directly to the defined catcher.

Brook was spared when he cut a chance to cut the fourth slip, Yashavi Jaiswal made a chaos of his manual work for the second time in the game. The punishment was quick and irreconcilable, 18 runs from the following when Brook loosened.

The century seemed to come quickly, but instead Brook made the same mistake as Smith, took over the long border and briefly came up.

England added 67 important runs in the last three gates, Chris Woakes, who broke in 38 before Bumrah redeemed the innings to end with a hard-earned and deserved five-five-against-five-on-company company.
