Federal College of Education, Obudu Announces Festive Shutdown for 2025/2026

Federal College of Education, Obudu-The leadership of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, has confirmed a scheduled suspension of campus activities to mark the Christmas season and usher in the 2026 New Year. This planned recess is designed to give both academic and non-academic staff, as well as students, adequate time to rest, travel, and reconnect with loved ones after an intensive academic period.

The decision reflects the institution’s commitment to staff and student welfare, recognising the importance of balance between academic responsibilities and personal well-being. During this interval, normal teaching, learning, and administrative operations will be paused, except for personnel assigned to critical and security-related responsibilities.

Official Timeline for the Holiday Recess

According to the approved timetable, the college will officially suspend activities at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, 19 December 2025. This marks the end of all lectures, office work, and routine campus operations for the year. The institution will reopen fully on Monday, 5 January 2026, when lectures, administrative services, and other institutional functions are expected to resume without delay.

Students and staff are advised to plan their return accordingly, as academic activities will commence immediately upon resumption. Late return may disrupt teaching schedules and official duties, especially during the early weeks of the new year.

Safety and Campus Security Measures

Ahead of departure from campus, all members of the college community are strongly encouraged to take necessary safety precautions. Offices, lecture halls, laboratories, and hostels should be properly locked, with all doors and windows securely fastened. Electrical appliances must be switched off to prevent fire hazards and electrical faults during the closure period.

Meanwhile, designated security personnel will remain on duty throughout the break. Their responsibility includes monitoring both campuses, safeguarding facilities, and ensuring that the college environment remains secure until activities resume in January.

Message of Unity and Reflection

Beyond rest and celebration, the management has encouraged staff and students—irrespective of religious background—to use the festive interval as a moment for reflection, prayer, and positive intentions for the year ahead. Emphasis has been placed on promoting peace, good health, and harmony within the college community and the wider society.

On behalf of the 8th Governing Council and the institution’s management, the Registrar conveyed warm seasonal greetings to staff, students, and their families. The message expressed appreciation for the cooperation, dedication, and discipline shown throughout the academic year and extended best wishes for a joyful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year.

Appreciation and Closing Note

The management of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, has expressed gratitude to the entire college community for their understanding and compliance with the approved holiday schedule. By adhering to the outlined guidelines and the resumption date, the institution aims to ensure a smooth transition into the 2026 academic year.

Staff and students are wished a calm, safe, and fulfilling festive season as they look forward to returning refreshed and ready for renewed academic engagement.
